Prime Minister Narendra Modi will release the installment from Varanasi

Under the direction of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the 20th installment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) plan would be released from Varanasi on August 2, 2025. Crores of farmers throughout will receive support and encouragement on this special day.

Review of the high-level meeting’s preparations

On July 30, 2025, Union Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chauhan presided over a high-level meeting in New Delhi to assess the program’s preparations.
The meeting was conducted virtually, with participation from directors, vice chancellors, and senior officials from 731 Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs), the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), and agricultural universities nationwide.

The occasion will be planned as a national public awareness campaign

The program should be organized as a national public campaign, according to Shri Chouhan. In order to maximize the benefits for farmers, he instructed the officials to expand the initiative to the national, state, district, and village levels.

Crucial function of Krishi Vigyan Kendras

The minister added that Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs) have been given special responsibility and that ₹6,000 in annual support is being delivered directly to farmers’ accounts in three installments of ₹2,000 every four months. In this Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system, KVKs play a crucial role.

Appeal to commemorate this occasion as a festival and a public education initiative

According to Minister Shri Chauhan, this program serves as a public awareness campaign in addition to a benefit distribution event. Making it a “festival and a mission” was his plea

The Minister instructed ground workers such as Krishi Sakhi, Drone Didi, Bank Sakhi, Insurance Sakhi, Pashu Sakhi, and Gram Panchayat Sarpanches to actively participate in order to spread the word about the program throughout every community.

During the Kharif season, communication with farmers will increase.

In order to strengthen agricultural development activities, the program also placed a strong emphasis on educating farmers about Kharif crops and building relationships with them.

9.7 crore farmers will benefit from the ₹20,500 crore in the 20th installment, ₹3.69 lakh crore transferred thus far.

In 2019, this program was launched. Since then, 19 installments totaling ₹ 3.69 lakh crore have been deposited into farmers’ accounts. Approximately ₹20,500 crore will now be distributed to 9.7 crore farmers under the 20th installment.

High-ranking officials attended the meeting.

This crucial conference was attended by Agriculture Secretary Shri Devesh Chaturvedi, Director General of ICAR Dr. M.L. Jat, and other top Agriculture Ministry officials.
